This summer has brought Orange County many days of high temperatures and more are expected in the months to come. While we enjoy the sunshine, fresh air and the great outdoors, here are some tips to keep your family cool and safe in the hot weather.
Groups at highest risk for heat-related illness include children under 2 years of age, people aged 65 and older, and those with chronic diseases or mental illness. Pregnant women are also more likely to get heat exhaustion or heat stroke because their body must work harder to cool down both their body and their unborn baby. Pregnant women are also more likely to become dehydrated.
