Healthy Weight

Women who are underweight, overweight, or obese have a higher risk of serious health conditions.

Achieving a healthy weight now can improve your chances of getting pregnant and avoiding pregnancy complications and birth defects.

Experts advise that the key to having a healthy weight is following a lifestyle that includes healthy eating and regular physical activity.

  • Control the portion size of your meals.
  • Eat more fruits and vegetables.
  • Choose healthy snacks.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Limit fast foods and instant foods.

Sometimes you may not have enough food in your home.  Resources are available in our county to help.  Click on More Information below to find resources (2-1-1), How to Find Food Help in OC, WIC, SNAP).

Daily Exercise

Staying active with regular exercise can help you feel your best and maintain a healthy weight. It also helps reduce high blood pressure, reduces the risk of developing diabetes and other diseases. Most experts recommend at least 30 minutes of exercise every day. Before starting an exercise program, talk with your doctor.
